It has been 2 weeks since I left italki where I worked as an intern for almost 2 months. Working in italki with so many amazing and kind people is definitely going to be my happiest time of this year. Here I am writing down my story with italki in the past few months.
Last year November I became a member on italki where I found myself a German tutor. As a language learner, I was tired of taking lessons from school. However, italki gave me a new opportunity to learn a foreign language in a totally new way which made me feel that italki is such a perfect place to learn a new language with native speakers. So after taking a few lessons, I tried sending messages to italki to ask whether they offer an internship. Back and forth, I got my internship. (I didn’t expect that before!)
I worked in service department. At the very beginning, the team helped me out from a lot of situations which I didn’t know how to deal with. Every time they were always with great patience, making me feel comfortable to work with them. Approving teacher profile, checking teacher application, doing FAQ translation project, packing gift to language challenge winners, dealing with tickets etc, all these things helped me get to know more about things happening behind italki. More importantly, I’ve learned a lot of things from you guys, which I won’t have a chance to learn in school. Jim, Tracy, Charles, Kevin, Andrew, Abby, Jo and Anna, thank you so much!
Moreover, another thing attracted me most is to testing new italki techs. Hope these new techs can come to public sooner.
After working in italki, I realize that itakli is really changing the way how people learn foreign languages, by bringing people from all over the world together, by communicating with people from different cultures, by learning a language through speaking. As a user, a language learner and an intern, I really really appreciate all the things you guys have done behind the screen!
(I will especially miss Geri’s food!)
